Annastacia Palaszczuk was elected to represent the seat of Inala in September 2006.
Annastacia became the Minister for Disability Services and Multicultural Affairs in 2009.
Annastacia knows our community – she grew up in the electorate of Inala and has lived locally in Durack- her very first job was in retail at Inala Plaza, where she later spent five years working for the local federal member.
She is an active in our local community and is patron of Inala Community House, Project Love & Care, Wolston Park Golf Club and the Oxley-Darra Pony Club.
Annastacia puts her community first and works hard to deliver local infrastructure and local jobs.
“We are in the process of building Richlands Railway Station which will be completed in 2011,” she said.
Across the electorate we can see the upgrade of the Ipswich Motorway and the construction of the Darra to Springfield railway line.
There is real growth in the south west.
Annastacia is putting money into education and ensuring that children have a real job opportunities at the end of their studies.
She is working very closely with Premier Anna Bligh to deliver $70 million to remodernise our local Inala schools.
For students to compete in a global workforce, they need schools that provide 21st century teaching and learning environments.
At Inala we are going to construct new buildings or re-model existing ones, providing larger more flexible classrooms and learning areas that take advantage of modern teaching methods.
These renewed schools will engage Inala’s young people in a way not previously possible, supporting new curriculum opportunities in areas such as science, technology, engineering and maths.
Annastacia is also passionate about affordable housing and works with many families to ensure their housing needs are met.
Annastacia knows the value of education. She has an Arts/Law degree and is admitted as a lawyer.
