Peter was elected to State Parliament in 2001.
In 2009 Peter was appointed to the Queensland Cabinet as Minister for Tourism and Fair Trading. Prior to entering Parliament Peter was a solicitor and consultant to a leading Southport law firm.
Peter was a councillor on the Gold Coast City Council for six years. He held the position of chair of council's Planning Committee for three years.
Peter has lived in Southport since he was a small child. He has been involved in numerous sporting clubs including cricket, rugby league, rugby union and Australian Rules football. He was a committee member of the Gold Coast Turf Club for 15 years. Peter has three children.
