Cameron Dick - State Member for Greenslopes

Cameron Dick
Cameron Dick was elected as State MP for the electorate of Greenslopes on March 21, 2009.

He was then appointed as Queensland Attorney-General and Minister for Industrial Relations in the re-elected Bligh Government, on March 26, 2009.

Cameron has a range of experience in the law and public service.

After finishing high school Cameron completed bachelor degrees in Law and Commerce, and later a Bachelor of Arts degree, at the University of Queensland.

In the mid-1990s Cameron worked for three years as an international development volunteer in the small South Pacific island nation of Tuvalu, under the Australian Volunteers Abroad program (now Australian Volunteers International). During his time in Tuvalu Cameron worked in the Office of the Attorney-General, initially as the Crown Counsel. At the age of 27, Cameron was appointed the acting Attorney-General of Tuvalu, a position he held for one year.

Following his time in Tuvalu, Cameron read international law at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and was awarded a Master of Law degree from Cambridge University.

Having previously worked as solicitor, Cameron worked as a barrister prior to his election.

Aside from stints overseas, Cameron Dick has lived his whole life on the Southside of Brisbane, in and around the state electorate of Greenslopes.

Cameron's family links to the electorate stretch back the best part of 60 years. Cameron's parents were married at St Matthew's Anglican Church, Holland Park, and they purchased their first home in that suburb in the early 1960s. Cameron’s great-grandmother lived at Douglas Street, Greenslopes.

Cameron grew up in Holland Park, and attended a local primary school, Marshall Road State School.

Cameron now lives on the Southside of Brisbane with his wife and their two young boys.

He is an active member of the local community and a strong believer in the importance of volunteer work.

Cameron has previously been a member of the Mount Gravatt Local Ambulance Committee, and has served as the committee President.

He has also been a member of the Mt Gravatt Australian Football Club committee, and the Mt Gravatt Junior Australian Football Club committee.
